TPA23: A message for our long service award recipients from the NEU

Congratulations to this year's recipients of the long service award

The Teach Portsmouth Awards returns this month to celebrate the achievements of school and college staff across 12 exciting award categories. Ahead of this year's ceremony, we're sharing a special message for our long service award recipients from category sponsor, the National Education Union (NEU).

Nearly 100 people have been nominated for the long service award this year, which recognises those who have worked in education in Portsmouth for 20 years or more. This is the only award that is not shortlisted and everyone nominated in this category will receive a trophy.

Charlotte Lawrence, Joint Secretary, Portsmouth Branch & District of the NEU, has the following message for this year's recipients:

"Portsmouth NEU has been in existence in one form or another since 1871, so we have a long history of representing educators across the city. We know from our long history that working in education is not always easy. It can be tiring, and the hours can be long.

"However, the fact that there are 96 long service award recipients this year shows that our city has the most dedicated, hardworking, and talented educators. Every day they make a positive difference to our city's children and young people and continue to do so year in, year out. Educators are often modest about their achievements and don't always get recognition they deserve. That's why we are proud to sponsor these awards in recognition of the wonderful recipients' many years of service and dedication to education in Portsmouth.

"On behalf of Portsmouth NEU, I would like to say a huge congratulations to all 96 of this year's long service award recipients. Thank you for your hard work over the years, and for your continuing service to education in our city. Keep doing all that you do and know that the National Education Union are here supporting you all the way!"
