The Teach Portsmouth Education Careers Fair will host up to 24 exhibitors on the day, with more being added as we get closer to the event.
Exhibitors will include schools, multi-academy trusts (organisations that manage multiple schools across the city), adult education providers, Portsmouth City Council services, and employment specialists.
Together, they offer a wide range of support to help you take your first steps towards a fulfilling career in education.
Participating employers will be offering taster sessions, giving attendees the chance to visit a specific school or organisation, take a tour, meet staff, and learn more about what it’s like to work there, before applying.
We understand that some people may feel unsure or lack experience in the workplace. These sessions are designed to build confidence and provide a real insight into education careers.
Each employer will manage their own taster sessions and may introduce a waiting list if demand is high. More details on which organisations are taking part will be shared as we get closer to the event.
It is not a requirement to bring a CV. However, if you would find it useful to reference during any conversations you have with exhibitors, please bring it along. Most employers will not accept a CV as a method of recruitment as you will need to apply online via their website.
The Opportunities Room has a capacity for 100 people per talk. We will be running different sessions throughout the day. Your ticket to the event automatically gives you access to this room - so there is no need to book an additional ticket.
You can re-enter the event throughout the day if there is a session you want to attend at a different time.
While we are still confirming exhibitors for the event and the opportunities they will bring, many schools and colleges will welcome volunteers throughout the year.
If you would like to volunteer, we would always recommend contacting a school or college first to start a conversation. You will be required to have a basic DBS before you start. Schools and colleges will organise this for you, if you take up a volunteering position with them.
If you have the right experience and qualifications, becoming a teacher doesn't have to be challenging. Teacher training providers will be attending to support those wishing to join the profession.
If you are already qualified, schools and multi-academy trusts who decide to attend will be promoting vacancies too.
