Event features
Meet exhibitors
Schools, colleges, training providers and employment specialists will be on hand to support you into work.
Whether you need help to gain a C/4 in maths and English or to find your perfect job in education, exhibitors will happily talk to you about their opportunities.
Exhibitors may also be promoting taster sessions which you can sign up to on the day. These are often held shortly after the event.
Watch short presentations
Each event includes information sessions that help you make sense of the education landscape in Portsmouth.
Sessions include presentations from local partners including training providers and employment specialists.
Teaching assistants, head teachers and other professionals will often share their experiences with the opportunity to ask questions afterwards.
Sign up to taster sessions
Taster sessions are a great way to build confidence before you apply for a job with a specific employer.
These sessions are between 1 hour and 1.5 hours and will often include a tour of the school, a chance to meet staff and learn about vacancies. If there is a specific school you would like to work for, we would recommend signing up to a taster session.
There will be no direct work with pupils during these sessions.
Discover the jobs board
The jobs board is the best place to find exhibitor vacancies, training and apprenticeships in one place.
Most adverts include a QR code to find out more information about the opportunity. You will also find information about taster sessions on the board.
We would recommend taking a photo of the application to view the opportunity later once the event has ended.

Top questions
We are a Portsmouth City Council service and part of the Portsmouth Education Partnership. This means that our priority is to recruit and retain the best professionals for the city's schools and academies. One way we do this is through organising events and webinars.
Our events will always be free - ensuring everyone can access the information they need. Whether that's finding a job, training or advice, our events are designed for people at all stages of their career.
Most events will require a ticket. This allows us to monitor capacity across different venues. While all our events for the year ahead are now available to view online, ticketing will open nearer the time. We would encourage you to sign up to our monthly newsletter to be the first to hear about when online registration opens.
Taster sessions are opportunities for event attendees to experience a school environment before applying for a specific job. You will get a tour of the school, meet staff and learn more about their vacancies and opportunities. Taster sessions are around 1 hour to 1.5 hours long.
You sign up to taster sessions at events. These are not promoted separately and are only reserved for event attendees.
All events are designed to help support your knowledge from the very beginning. There will often be a presentation or information session held during an event. Timings for these sessions can be found on each event page, when they become available.
The Teach Portsmouth Awards has a venue capacity of only 300 people. The event is closed to members of the public and only available for school and college staff to attend. Those who are shortlisted are prioritised with all schools receiving two tickets to use as they wish.
There are 12 award categories in total with 11 reserved for senior school staff to nominate their colleagues. The people's choice award category is open to people who live in Portsmouth, nominating any member of school or college staff. Nominations for the people's choice award will open in November 2024.
