Celebrating the achievements of Portsmouth's school superheroes

Thank you for joining us this year to celebrate the achievements of school staff

What a year it’s been! We've been celebrating the achievements of staff across the city with our thank a school superhero initiative and a dedicated event for long service.

Families as well as other staff have thanked their superheroes by sending us a special message. We've also applauded those who have worked in the city's schools for 20 years or more. Take a look at our celebrations and how we've recognised those who have made a difference in our community.

Our celebrations

Since January, we've been recognising staff in schools across the city. Thanks to our sponsors, we've been busy celebrating everyone's achievements in different ways.

Thank a school superhero

Families across Portsmouth told us how much school staff mean to them in the form of special messages. We asked them to tell us how individuals had gone above and beyond over the last academic year.

These messages would be shared with schools on posters and placed inside a hamper full of treats. Hampers and messages were sent to schools on Thursday 20 June 2024.

Learn more about the initiative, the milestones and end result. You can also meet four inspirational school superheroes who received thanks from parents/carers and colleagues.

Celebrating long service to education

We held a special event for school staff who have worked in Portsmouth for 20 years or more.

87 staff members from 23 different schools joined us at Portsmouth Guildhall for afternoon tea and trophy giving ceremony.

City leaders and sponsors joined us to mark the occasion too. The event is one way we celebrate those who have given their careers to educating pupils in Portsmouth for over two decades.
