Teach Portsmouth presents…
Each webinar will focus on a different theme and feature guest speakers who will share their experiences so you can learn more about what it's like to teach in Portsmouth.
Are you wanting to start a rewarding career as a teacher but don't know where to begin? Join Teach Portsmouth for our upcoming webinar focusing on 'routes into teaching.' Whether you've decided to take a school or university based route, two newly qualified Portsmouth teachers will share their experiences of initial teacher training and the transition to becoming a newly qualified teacher (NQT).
There will also be a Q&A session where you can ask any questions via live chat.
Councillor Suzy Horton grew up in the waterfront city but started her teaching career as a primary school teacher in London, progressing to become a deputy head. Working in education for her entire career so far, Suzy has taught in schools, in further education and more recently as a lecturer in education studies at the University of Portsmouth.
Abigail Abrahams trained to teach in Portsmouth with the Portsmouth Teaching School Alliance and University of Portsmouth, taking a School Direct route to her PGCE and QTS. She is now a secondary school English teacher based at Mayfield School in Portsmouth, hoping to help the kids love Shakespeare!
Emily Brown studied a BA (Hons) in education, special needs and disability at the University of Chichester. In her final year of study, Emily decided to apply for a PGCE with an early years' specialism. She is now a newly qualified teacher at Court Lane Infant Academy in Portsmouth, a University of Chichester Academy Trust school.
