Learn about routes into teaching from two newly qualified teachers

Are you wanting to start a rewarding career as a teacher but don't know where to begin? Join Teach Portsmouth for our upcoming webinar focusing on 'routes into teaching.' Whether you've decided to take a school or university based route, two newly qualified Portsmouth teachers will share their experiences of initial teacher training and the transition to becoming a newly qualified teacher (NQT).

There will also be a Q&A session where you can ask any questions via live chat.

Councillor Suzy Horton

Councilor Suzy Horton

Councillor Suzy Horton grew up in the waterfront city but started her teaching career as a primary school teacher in London, progressing to become a deputy head. Working in education for her entire career so far, Suzy has taught in schools, in further education and more recently as a lecturer in education studies at the University of Portsmouth.

About our speakers

Abigail Abrahams

Abigail Abrahams trained to teach in Portsmouth with the Portsmouth Teaching School Alliance and University of Portsmouth, taking a School Direct route to her PGCE and QTS. She is now a secondary school English teacher based at Mayfield School in Portsmouth, hoping to help the kids love Shakespeare!

Emily Brown

Emily Brown studied a BA (Hons) in education, special needs and disability at the University of Chichester. In her final year of study, Emily decided to apply for a PGCE with an early years' specialism. She is now a newly qualified teacher at Court Lane Infant Academy in Portsmouth, a University of Chichester Academy Trust school.
