Teach Portsmouth Awards Live update #2

The Teach Portsmouth team can't wait to celebrate Portsmouth's star teachers, support teams and leaders at this year's awards. We continually review the evolving situation COVID-19 presents and wanted to update readers on our plans moving forwards.

The Teach Portsmouth Awards Live is a digital awards ceremony that recognises the achievements of education professionals in schools, colleges and organisations across the waterfront city. We understand the continued pressure colleagues are facing in education settings at the moment and feel it is only right to ease the burden on them. To help you understand what has changed, we've put together a set of top questions.

Has the date of the event changed?

In light of the pressures schools and colleges are facing, the awards will now take place on Thursday 8 July to give colleagues more time to nominate their peers. The Teach Portsmouth team met earlier this week to respond to the ever growing situation colleagues are facing. These are unprecedented times. We feel this is the right decision to take in light of these challenging circumstances.

While the future of face to face events remain uncertain, we can confirm the event will still be held digitally through Zoom video conferencing.

What about the people's choice award?

So far, local residents have nominated over 150 amazing individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty during the pandemic. The people's choice award will close on Wednesday 13 January as planned. Nominations for other award categories will be extended until Friday 7 May.

Can I nominate in other award categories?

Teach Portsmouth introduced the people's choice award as a way for the Portsmouth community to say thank you to teachers, support teams and leaders. Other award categories are peer to peer only. If you submit an application for other award categories, your application may be removed from the shortlisting process.

What's next?

The Teach Portsmouth team will continue to prepare for the awards on Thursday 8 July. Over the coming months, we'll be introducing more information about our sponsors and sharing inspirational stories from the people's choice award. Subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know more.
